Kay Lee is the director of the Operations Leadership Team. Kay is based in headquarters in San Francisco.
Having worked 20 years in the philanthropic and non-profit sectors, Kay has overseen organizational management, executed institution-wide change management, and led operations and strategic planning at large global foundations, including the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Asia Foundation.
Directly prior to Earthjustice, Kay spent ten years at the Ford Foundation in New York. Working closely with the executive leadership team, she managed special projects and a major review of the foundation’s grantmaking strategy and re-organization. More recently, Kay served in the Office of Strategy and Learning, where she supported the advancement of systems and processes to enable greater learning, reflection, and strategy development. She worked closely with program and operational staff to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Kay has worked on refugee and asylum issues at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Malaysia and with a community-based organization serving refugees in London. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree with a focus on nonprofit management from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a BA from the University of California, San Diego. A native Californian, Kay is excited to be back in the Golden State with her husband and two children. She hopes her children will live in a better world because of the work of Earthjustice.
