Keith Rushing is the National Communications Strategist for Partnerships and Intersectional Justice.

He is a communications director, writer-editor, blogger and journalist with a passion for social justice issues and traditional and digital media. He has successfully directed print, broadcast and social media outreach strategies for national nonprofit organizations that work on social justice issues (Rights Working Group, Appleseed, Advancement Project are among those). He has led media efforts around civil rights campaigns on racial profiling, voting rights, the “school-to-prison pipeline,” and immigration. He has led successful online and traditional media strategies that attracted major media attention for policy initiatives, events, reports and campaigns. His media hits include NPR, ABC News, MSNBC, BET News, US News & World Report, The New York Times, The Root, All In With Chris Hayes, Democracy Now, The Rachel Maddow Show, The Dianne Rehm Show, among many others. Before getting into advocacy, he was an award-winning journalist who was recognized for his enterprise reporting, serving as a news reporter at The North County Times in CA and The Daily Press in VA.

Rushing is a true news junkie, but also likes playing Congas, has studied theater, and hopes, once his two young daughters are older, to perform in some local theater productions where he lives in Washington, D.C.
