Nate Johnson serves as Earthjustice’s Development Officer II on the Foundations Relations team based in Washington D.C. In this role, he raises institutional funding for Earthjustice’s Climate and Energy program. Nate has a wealth of scientific, programmatic, and fundraising knowledge — prior to joining Earthjustice, he served as a Director of Institutional Giving for Oceana where he raised more than $30 million for national and international campaigns to protect the world’s oceans and those who rely on them. He began his career in Southeast Texas, leading programs focused on improving water quality, protecting local wildlife, and strengthening climate resilience for community-based organizations in the Houston-Galveston area. Nate has also served in various fundraising leadership roles with Story District, Issue Voter, and the International Marine Conservation Congress. He earned his M.S in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston and his B.S. in Business Management from Providence College.
