With their Build Back Better agenda, President Biden and Vice President Harris laid out a transformative blueprint to tackle climate change, address environmental justice, and reduce air pollution – all while investing in infrastructure and creating jobs. A key part of this agenda includes electrifying medium and heavy-duty transportation. We looked more closely into the impact of spending $2.5 billion on upgraded school buses. Our analysis shows that the shift to electric school buses has enormous benefits, significantly reducing a wide range of pollutants where it matters most.

D.C. Circuit Court Ruling: EPA 2019 Renewable Fuels Standard

D.C. Circuit Court Decision: Earthjustice and clients Sierra Club, Healthy Gulf, and National Wildlife Federation filed a challenge with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) alleging that it illegally approved expanded volume production of largely corn and soy based biofuels despite evidence that such production destroys habitat, degrades water quality, and increases harmful greenhouse gas emissions that are fueling the climate crisis.

Letter to Agencies about Fort Bliss (July 2021)

Earthjustice, along with Hispanic Federation, Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, GreenLatinos, and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, joined the growing calls for the closure of the migrant child detention center located at the Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas, due to flagrant environmental contamination in the area. In a letter submitted to federal agencies, groups expressed alarm by the growing number of reports of dangerous and unsafe conditions for children at Fort Bliss and other emergency intake shelters. They also asked for the closure of this detention center. This comes as recent news reports have detailed horrifying conditions at Fort Bliss, including contractors ill-equipped to care for children, severe emotional distress, and inhumane treatment.
