In this unprecedented pandemic-year election, the outcome of the U.S. presidential election is still unclear. In the face of the uncertainty over the future of the highest office in the country, Earthjustice, the nation’s premier environmental law organization, emphasize the critical importance of counting every vote.

Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen released the following statement:

“Every vote counts. A rush to declare the outcome of this election without counting every vote is a direct attack on our constitutional rights and our democracy. During a pandemic, millions of people have exercised their right to vote safely with mail-in ballots, provisional ballots, and other methods of voting that are in place to enable participation in this historic election. We must reject any attempt to discard or delegitimize those votes.

“We depend on strong, stable democratic institutions and guaranteed voting rights to protect each other and the planet. This is a critical moment for everyone to make their voices heard and demand that every vote be counted.”
