Henessa Gumiran is a Litigation Paralegal with the Biodiversity Defense Program. She provides litigation support on matters ranging from protecting Mexican gray wolves to challenging harmful mineral exploration projects in the Patagonia Mountains.

Prior to joining Earthjustice in January 2024, Henessa worked at New York University School of Law supporting The Earth Rights Research and Action (TERRA) Clinic, the Reproductive Justice Clinic, and the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice. Before this experience, she previously represented low-income community members with disabilities in claims for Social Security Disability/Supplemental Security Income.

She received a B.A. in Economics and completed a post-baccalaureate paralegal certificate from Rutgers University. She is currently earning a Master’s degree in Degrowth: Ecology, Economics, and Policy through the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
