Linnet Davis-Stermitz is Senior Counsel for Strategic Legal Advocacy at Earthjustice. She is an appellate and administrative law expert who helps Earthjustice attorneys navigate the emerging challenges of litigating environmental cases in today’s federal and state courts. She focuses on cross-cutting doctrinal issues, including questions of justiciability and jurisdiction, the scope of federal power, and judicial review of agency action.
Prior to joining Earthjustice, Linnet worked at Gupta Wessler LLP, a public-interest appellate and complex litigation boutique. There, she briefed and argued appeals in the federal and state appellate courts on behalf of consumers, workers, environmental organizations, and other public-interest clients. She also briefed cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Earlier in her career, Linnet served as a federal law clerk for Judge Michelle T. Friedland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Alison J. Nathan, then of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (now of the Second Circuit). Linnet received her B.A. from Swarthmore College and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a Rubenstein Scholar.
