Lydia Heye is an associate attorney in the Northwest Regional Office. Lydia primarily focuses on protecting communities in the Pacific Northwest from industrial air pollution, safeguarding the Northwest’s forests, and defending federal and state environmental protection statutes and regulations.

Prior to joining the Northwest Regional office, Lydia worked as a legal fellow at Trustees for Alaska in Anchorage. During her fellowship, Lydia worked on protecting communities, landscapes, and wildlife in the Arctic from threats from the oil, gas, and mining industries.

Lydia obtained her J.D. from UCLA School of Law with a specialization in Environmental Law. During her time in law school, Lydia was the Chief Articles Editor of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and an Organizing Committee Member of the UCLA Black Law Journal. Lydia also served as the Environmental Justice Chair of the UCLA Environmental Law Society and the Secretary of the UCLA Black Law Student Association. Lydia did a clerkship with Earthjustice’s California Regional Office during her third year of law school. Lydia obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Portland.

Outside of the office, Lydia enjoys hiking, cycling, skiing, finding new coffee shops, and rooting for her favorite sports teams.
