Molly Tack-Hooper joined Earthjustice in 2020 as a senior attorney in the Northwest regional office in Seattle, Washington, where she dedicates a substantial part of her time to environmental justice litigation and advocacy in partnership with impacted communities.

Before coming to Earthjustice, Molly was a senior staff attorney at the ACLU of Washington and, before that, at the ACLU of Pennsylvania. At the ACLU, Molly worked on matters involving a wide range of civil liberties including racial justice, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ rights, criminal law reform, freedom of speech, and voting rights. Her work included impact litigation in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels, as well as legislative and policy advocacy and public education. She previously served as an associate at Berger & Montague in Philadelphia where she represented plaintiffs in complex class action suits and as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael H. Dolinger, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Before moving to Seattle, Molly was active in the Philadelphia Bar Association, where she served on the Board of Governors, chaired the Public Interest Section, co-chaired the Civil Rights Committee, and founded the Public Interest Associates’ Committee. She also participated in the American Inn of Court at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

Molly graduated in 2009 from NYU School of Law, where she was selected as an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Fellow and received the John Perry Prize for her dedication to civil rights. She served on the Review of Law & Social Change and the Moot Court Board, and received the Chairperson’s Award and Order of the Barristers for her work on moot court. She received her undergraduate degree in international relations from Brown University in 2002.
