The 8th Circuit’s decision vacates the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) final rule that revoked all tolerances for chlorpyrifos, thereby banning the use and presence of the neurotoxic pesticide on the foods we eat.
Patti Goldman, Managing Attorney, Northwest Office: “It took far too long, but children will no longer be eating food tainted with a pesticide that causes intellectual learning disabilities. Chlorpyrifos will finally be out of our fruits and vegetables.”
Earthjustice released a new report focusing on the wide-spread use of chlorpyrifos in the United States and how the country is exposed to this pesticide through drinking water, food, and air. This report documents the location and amount of chlorpyrifos usage in the United States, as well as the dangerous health effects associated with exposure.
