Today, The Supreme Court took the devastating step of overruling Roe v. Wade and erasing the bedrock constitutional right to a legal and safe abortion that the decision recognized fifty years ago.

“Today’s decision marks a dark turn for this country: both eviscerating 50 years of settled legal right to an abortion and cementing this Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority’s intention to advance an ideological agenda at the expense of legal precedent,” said Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen. “This decision will have dangerous consequences for people seeking abortions, especially Black, Brown, and low-income people, and this overreach squarely brings into question the legitimacy of our highest Court.
