Crude-by-rail is rolling into America's cities. Railroad shipments of volatile crude oil have increased 6,000 percent from 2008 to 2014, alarming citizens who weren’t told of the danger passing through their communities.
Oil refineries emit egregious amounts of toxic air pollution that seriously jeopardizes the health of people who live nearby. Earthjustice is representing many of these fenceline communities in a lawsuit to get oil refineries to clean up their dirty ways.
A large coalition of 64 local, state and national groups, represented by Earthjustice, are urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to protect public health by setting pollution limits on oil and gas wells and associated equipment in population centers around the United States.
